Make Up Storage

With all my carmine boxes building up, I decided to put them to good use and what better way to do that than to use them for my make up?!

Previously I've used little plaster drawers that I got for a £1 each and built together, but as my collection was growing I decided that I needed somewhere bigger to place my make up, bring in the Carmine boxes.

The first was used on eyeshadows, single eyeshadows. That box is now completely full. Oops.
I think it's a great way to store my make up as the boxes are pretty tough and you can get a lot in them, and because they're black they go with any kind of room colour too, not forgetting they're easy to store away :D

This is the rest of the MUA products I got when I got the two nail varnishes I've reviewed on earlier posts.
I'm in love with the lip balm, tastes amazing and gives just the right amount of colour to your lips.

I haven't yet tried to eyeliners, on my eyes, though the purple glitter liner was the one I used on my love hearts nail the other day.

I went to my sisters' house earlier on and she'd recently got some of the Nails Inc Magnetic Effect Polishes.
Who was I to refuse giving these polishes a quick go?!

I wasn't a fan of the colour of the London Town polish so I gave that one a miss.

I am wearing the Kensington Palace and Houses of Parliament shades.

I love the colours, and think it's fascinating how these polishes work.
I think the red shade is my favourite from the two, but looking on the site I definitely want to try WhiteHall as it's such a pretty colour.

New Hair Colour: Pillar-box red

I re-dyed my hair yesterday as the colour was fading more and more each watch, and turning into a strange ombre-effect but only going from pink to orange. Eep.

I used Directions Pillar-box hair dye, which I love and have been using for years. Directions is my dye of choice, though Manic Panic is great too, just more expensive and less available in the UK.

The colour lasts me a pretty decent amount of time for a semi-permanent hair dye, and if I was my hair every 3 days and dry shampoo in between it keeps the colour vibrant for much longer.

I buy my Directions dye at a local accessories shop but you can buy them online here.

I'm going to start doing some celebrity looks soon

Nails: MUA Love Hearts - Love u 24/7

Again please excuse the bad quality of pictures of late, I am using my camera phone and it's not too brilliant as you can see.

I decided to try the MUA Love Hearts - Love u 24/7 nail varnish yesterday and I absolutely love it. I'm normally not a fan of pastel colours, preferring dark or bright nails, but this colour is too pretty not to like.

The polish itself goes on really smoothly (excuse the smudge on my thumb nail that was my error), the first coat is very sheer which made me think I'd have to use about 5 coats to get it the colour I wanted when in fact the second coat did just that.

I decided to funk it up a bit by putting a line of the MUA Glitter Eyeliner in Shade 7. I love the combination.

MUA Review: Waterproof liquid eyeliner

It's the MUA (Make Up Academy) water proof liquid eyeliner which can be found here for just £1!

I decided to buy this when I was buying a few other bits from the MUA website, (reviews will come soon) but wasn't expecting great things! Not because of the price or the brand, I am a massive fan of the MUA brand and love how affordable they are, but because I've had rubbish luck with eyeliner.

I use pencil, by the end of my day I look like I don't have any eyeliner on.
I use liquid and it ends up "cracking" and making me look a bit of a state.
I use gel which melts, making me resemble Alice Cooper, not don't get me wrong I do love a bit of Alice Cooper but I'd rather not take my make up tips from him....

The number of different brands I have tried, and the prices have ranged from £1 onwards and nothing lasts, especially after a long shift in work where I'm running around most the day, I need an eyeliner that will last.
And that's what this one does.

I tried it this weekend, weekends are the busiest times in my job so it seemed the perfect time to put this little eyeliner to the test, both days I've come home and looked in the mirror, eyeliner has been perfect!

Still there, it hasn't ran, or cracked or anything.
Perfect!

I will most definitely be repurchasing this again and again and would highly recommend it to anyone who has problems with their eyeliner lasting throughout the day, BUT doesn't have time to keep fixing it...

MUA Review: Nail Varnish shade 1

Excuse the blurry picture, blackberry camera's aren't the greatest and my camera has gone for a walk again. Should really find that.

This is Shade 1 of the Make Up Academy range.
How pretty is it?!
I cannot believe that I didn't own this varnish already so as soon as I saw it I had to buy it.

(of course being me I did buy a few more things, haul will be added soon), but needed to post this straight away as it's too pretty NOT to share.

If you haven't already go and look at the MUA web site or pop down to your local superdrug to see the products in person, you definitely won't regret it.
And your make up / nail varnish collection will grow nicely.

This little bottle was £1! I still cannot get over the prices in this cosmetic line! I always feel like I'm stealing from them, especially when the result is something as amazing as this. Prettyyyyyyyy!

The varnish itself has amazing colour pay off and only needs two coats. I also find that with MUA polishes they dry a lot faster than most too! This is definitely a plus in my eyes.

Glossy Box (February)

Holy Bats didn't realise the picture would be that big O_O ah well easier to see what I got in it I guess. Haha.

I finally did it! I finally signed up to get the glossybox after how long?! Too long.
Being a big fan of the Carmine box, I was umming and arring about whether or not to sign up for this one too! Did I need both?! And other people's reviews didn't help either, some people LOVED their glossyboxes whilst others were like "I'm gonna cancel it's rubbish!"...

But I thought I could try it for a couple of months see what it gives me, plus I like the idea of a little gift arriving every month that ISN'T mother nature, because no one likes *that* gift.

First thing I noticed was the box was smaller than the Carmine box, so before I had opened it I was a bit hmm? wondering what could be in it. Because I'm sceptical like that obviously. Haha.
I do like how they on the card that comes with, put the prices of the full size on there, it saves me going to search for it myself. Always a plus.

What I received was Becca Beach Tint Watermelon - This was a full sized product and RRP at £20.
Therefore the £10 you've paid for the box is well spent!

I haven't used these products properly yet so I can't say whether I would go and buy them myself or not, but £20 does seem a little steep for a 7ml tube, but that's just me.

Dr Bronner - Lavender Hand Sanitiser. I'm guessing I'm just going to have to come to terms with the fact these boxes like lavender. To me it's a older ladies scent and I'm only in my 20's so that's not something I really like to smell of. Plus it's not a scent I particularly like.
It does it job though and doesn't leave your hands feeling "sticky" which a lot of hand sanitisers I have used in the past have done. (ick!)

They sent a full sized bottle (59ml) which retails at £3.99 which is not a bad price to pay, and if you are a fan of the scent then I definitely would check this out.

Awapuhi by Paul Mitchell - Wild Ginger Treatment Oil. Annoyingly mine had leaked slightly so the bottle is super slimy, but I do like this product from first use. I don't know whether you're meant to put it on damp or dry hair, (Oh just read the bottle, either!) my hair is dry and after I put it on it feels so much softer, which is saying a lot as my hair has been bleached to death :(
The smell is interesting, but in a good way. I shall definitely be using this again.

They sent a 25ml bottle. Full size is 100ml and retails for £25.95. Pretty steep! But I think my sample size will definitely last a while as you only need the tiniest of drops for your hair.

BM Beauty - Pure Mineral Eyeshadow. I got it from Storm Cloud which is a dark green/grey colour with sparkles. It's so pretty! I have yet to open the packaging because I'm rubbish, but if the colour pay off is as pretty as how it is in the pot then I shall be a happy bat.

They sent a 1g tub, full size is 2g and retails for £7.

Como Shambhala - Invigorate shower gel. I haven't used this either, but it smells nice. I'm rubbish with scents but it's one of them scents that will wake you up after you've used it in the shower! Does that make sense?!

They sent a 50ml bottle which is a pretty impressive size, retails at £20 for 300ml's.

I would use everything in this box, including the hand sanitiser despite its scent. So for my £10 plus postage I would say this box was worth it.

What did anyone else think of this months box?

Personal Post: Frogs *2

Say hello to my new pond people.
Mr. Frog, Speckles and Kermit.

They are now swimming about with my other frogs, Ginny, George and Harry as well as a fish, Jaws.

My friend has recently had a baby and was finding looking after the pond people as well as taking care of my beautiful batphew was a little too much so asked me if I'd adopt her frogs and Jaws.

Like I was going to say no!

So a week ago today I trotted off to hers (and by trotted I mean got a lift to hers), and got some snuggles from my bathphew before helping him feed himself, he's just over 4 months old so this was a very messy task for Aunt Bat here who before then had never fed a baby food before.

Then she showed me who was who. Kermie is the smallest, Mr Frog is the big thin one and Speckles has a round tummy.
I was really worried I'd get them mixed up once they were with my frogs, but I needn't have, mine are all smaller so no mixing up the pond people. :D

All frogs are friends and Jaws the fish (Who oddly enough died on the 11th of this month! SUPER FISH!) likes to suck their feet. He's a bit odd, but I like him.

Sally Hansen Review

I recently got a few of these beautiful colourful nail varnishes from the Sally Hansen HD Hi-Definition range.
Who could resist these amazing colours?

Clearly not me.

So you can imagine my disappointment when I tried them and they were all super sheer and watery?!
I had to put two coats on, then wait for such a long time before putting on another two coats to get the colour pay-off that I expected from just one or two coats. Especially as in the bottle the colour looks so amazing.

I still love the colours and I will obviously still wear the nail varnishes, but it's just a little disappointing that they take way too long to dry, and not very pigmented.

Soap and Glory - Youcube.

I went to visit my best friend in Wallasey last week, and it had been a while since we had seen each other (damn work), so we still had to exchange Christmas gifts, and this was one of the lovely things she got me.

Soap&Glory's Youcube box including "Clean on me" "Flake away" "Hand food" and "The Righteous Butter".
I had used a sample of Hand food before and looooooooved it, and it's smell but hadn't yet got around to purchasing it and for now I don't have to.

I have only tried The Righteous Butter and the Hand Food from this kit but I cannot wait to try the others so I can give them a good review too.

These creams are so moisturising and smell delicious I can't even put into words how good it smells. My hands especially love getting it's Hand Food and they feel so much softer than ever. I will definitely be purchasing these for myself once I have ran out.

Perfume Review: Avril Lavigne's - Black Star

While I'm on a perfume binge-post I thought I'd do a review on the Black Star perfume by Avril Lavigne.
When I first heard Avril was going to do perfumes I was a bit skeptical, you had the likes of Britney and Christina doing perfumes, the pop-princesses but then Avril is always gone on about being a "rocker" and its not exactly what you'd catch bands like Hole or Kitty doing... I could be wrong but probably not.

But then I smelt this perfume and it was amazing, so I bought the 30ml a while back and used half of it so quickly I had to stop using it so much and go onto my other (then abandoned) perfumes. So when I went to Wallasey last week to see my bestie we wondered into Superdrug and browsed the perfumes and this 50ml bottle was only £20.
Who was I to argue that?! The 30ml is £20 on their website, so gain 20ml and pay the same price? Yeah I had to.

I also have her Forbidden Rose perfume and am intrigued to smell Wild Rose her latest which proves that I can be wrong about things.
A little touch I like about the bottles is they all come with a funky little ring. :)

Marc Jacobs vs Justin Bieber

Now it's no secret that I despise Justin Bieber, his music is just cringe-worthy (yet so damn catchy "baby baby baby oooh, like baby, baby baby nooo!" Just no!), his hair just eurgh and he walks about the planet like he's god's gift, and he's like twelve! (Yes I'm aware he is actually 17/18 but shush!)

It's clear to say, I don't like the dude. So when I see his bottle of perfume I'm like Whoa! Where have I seen that before?!
Only Marc Jacobs' LOLA perfume bottle.

Now as you can see by looking at them both together they aren't exactly alike, but it's definitely a rip off idea.
Flower lid, purple bottle? Hmm run out of ideas?

What did sicken me to the core was after smelling the Justin Perfume, which is called Someday according to the superdrug website, actually doesn't smell hideous. I was so hoping it would. Haha. Still it didn't compare to "Lola"

Now if only perfume shops would take down his poster advertising this that would make me happy.

Oh and Marc Jacobs' does have another perfume similar to this bottle but in pink called "Oh Lola" in which Dakota Fanning models for it. I'm yet to smell that scent.

Want: Paco Rabanne -Lady Million Perfume

Has anyone else smelt this perfume? Ahhh it makes my nose happy.
I love the guys one so much that when I heard there was a girls one I did a happy dance.
Until I saw the price.

I have a lot of perfumes already and I can't justify paying £35 on a tiny little bottle. Which is sad but I'm just too sensible with my money.

So my nose will forever be happy when someone else walks past wearing this scent, and my heart will forever cry a little each time. haha.

But in all serious now, this is one of the nicest smelling scents I have smelt, it doesn't quite reach Hugo Deep Red (loooove), but it's still pretty :)

MUA Review: Primers

For the last few weeks I have been having major issues trying to sleep and only end up getting around 4hrs per night, which sometimes this happens to be split hours. Annoying.

One of the things (or two actually) that has saved me from looking like a corpse, and from scaring the people around me was the primer's from MUA, or Make Up Academy.

These little beauties have literally just taken over my life since I started using them at the beginning of the year, and the best part about them? The great price.

Now I know a lot of people rave on how you have to pay a lot to get a good product, anything inexpensive or cheap (shudder at that word) you aren't going to get anything decent... well those people may want to chew down on their £10+ face and eye primers as MUA have brought out just those products with amaaaaaazing quality for £2.50 for the eye primer and £4.00 for the face primer!
That's right! Both are less that the lowest price I've seen for face primer alone.
So why pay more for the same great quality?!

Katy Perry "Purr" review

I bought this perfume as a treat just before Christmas, I like to spoil myself too you see, haha.
Or I'd finished shopping for everyone else and I saw this for a lot cheaper than I'd seen it in other stores and so I had to grab a bottle.

This is the 30ml bottle and only cost me £20 from Wilkinson's, who I never think of when thinking of buying perfume, now I will.

From Wikipedia:
Purr's scent is fresh with a citrus twist which also features peach nectar and apple with green bamboo.^[3] It also includes a "delicate bouquet of jasmine blossom, pink freesia and Bulgarian rose, balanced by vanilla orchid, white amber, creamy sandalwood and musk."

I absolutely love it. It fastly became one of my most favourite purrfumes (get it?! haha I can't tell a joke to save my life) and I wear it all the time, so much so I will have to invest in a new bottle soon if I'm not careful.

I now cannot wait for her "meow" perfume which has just been released in the states, my "purr" needs a little friend and the "meow" bottle would be perfect (I gave up on the "purrfect" haha) company.

Have any of you tried this perfume? What did you think?

I'm in love with the bubble bars from them so I decided to try some ones I haven't yet to see what they're like.
And then some bath bombs that I've yet to have tried too, because well why not?!

Lush Review: Melted Snowman.

So for Christmas I got this cute little dude and he stole my heart.
I was stubborn at first to use him, it's sad enough that he's melted this much, to fizz away in my bath water. :(
But he smelt amazing and my bath needed to see how he made my water, so I put him in and watched him melt away.

The water was definitely oily and smelt amazing, and my skin afterwards was unbelievable. The only problem with him is the chocolate buttons and eyes that melted but didn't mix with the water too well, leaving a lovely brown mess. Not exactly sexy. >.<

I'm way way late with this post.
It's now almost 2 weeks into the year, people really need to kick my butt to post on this more often.
But for now HAPPY (late) NEW YEAR you beautiful people, hopefully 2012 is being good to you all.

I have decided to give up on the graze boxes for the moment, I'm not really looking forward to them anymore so decided to go on a break with them for the moment. I still think they're a great idea but not for me, right now.

Graze vs Glossy Box...

I know you're probably wondering how can you compare the two, one is all about natural foods while the other is a box of samples of beauty products.
But I'm debating cancelling my graze subscription and getting a glossy box, it would be about the same price per month, and to be fair I can buy the stuff Graze sends me in the shops around the corner, so not really worth spending about £3/4 per week on.

And I'm not sure whether to get a Glossy box or another similar, I already get the Carmine box which is amaaaazing, so just not sure what other boxes are out there and what are the best ones to get?
Any help would be appreciated.

Personal Post: Frogs

These are my lovely pond people, or my African Dwarf Frogs (who are getting rather popular on Youtube, bless them!)

The one at the very bottom is George, named after the Weasley twin. (I did have a Fred too but he was ill when I bought him, not that I was aware of this, and he died a few days later!) :(

The one by the star is Harry Frogger, who is actually a female but I wasn't aware of that when she was named and I refuse to change her name.

Near the blue plant ornament is Ginny, she's a beautiful frog, even if she does have a disabled webbed foot, that doesn't stop her at all.

They're my babies and I love them to bits, the ornaments were bought by their aunt frog for Christmas, isn't she nice?! The froggies seem to think so. :)

I don't think I've published my babies on this site before, they're all over my twitter and tumblr if you wish to see more froggie posts(!?) but I thought I'd introduce them to this page too.
I'm heartbroken though, as two weeks today (26th Dec, I've not yet slept so even though it's past 5am, it's still the 26th to me), my little Ron passed away :'(

I've had him, and my other babies for 18 months, and I just found him floating at the top of the tank, my heart broke into a million pieces, no one seems to understand how upsetting that was for me, but like I've said, they are my babies. (I don't ever want kids, they annoy me and freak me out, so my frogs are my babies), and to find little Ron all lifeless was heartbreaking for me :'(

He is now buried in the garden, next to my lovely Fred, and my dad bought them a little snowman for the holidays and my friend bought them a mini Christmas tree. <3
I need to think of something else to buy them, to go there for the rest of the year, just to mark their little graves.
Miss my babies.

Anyways, I'm going to shut up as it is 5:46am and I'm shattered soooo will be crawling into bed as soon as my body builds up enough energy to move.
I may post more pictures of my frogs on here, they'll be under personal posts so if you don't wish to see them (and why would you not?!) then you can just skip those posts.

So for Christmas my sister received the purple bottle of this nail varnish, I had seen a few reviews on Youtube about this polish so of course I was excited to steal the bottle from her and try it for myself.

Now don't get me wrong, I think it's extremely clever and the effects are pretty, but to be fair I wasn't that over-whelmed with it, or whelmed at all.
Sure it's pretty but do I think it's worth £13?
Not at all.

Now I painted my nails about 4pm on Christmas day, it's now 3am on the 27th and I barely have any polish left on my nails (hence why I don't have a picture for you), so it doesn't even have lasting power, and it's now like I've been doing loads of stuff to make my nails chip as I've been sleeping most of the holidays as I have a fever. (which sucks), so definitely not impressed.

Would I buy a bottle if it was cheaper? Yes, but it would have to be like £3 cheap, because I honestly don't think it's worth more than that. Sorry London Inc I just wasn't impressed with the lasting life of the polish on my nails and think for the price, it's just not worth it.

I was browsing the Superdrug website before, as they had sent me a email with a code to get £5 off my next order (which didn't work pssh!)
But I had spotted this perfume, which ignoring who's name is on it, is one of my favourite perfumes out there, (Barr Hugo Deep Red and Avril Lavigne's "Black Star").

I have been trying to find this for ages but it's always -so- expensive, I'm not sure if it's because it's rare now to find or what, but I found a 30ml bottle the other day for £25 which is way too expensive in my opinion.
This is the 100ml bottle, it was £17.99. AMAZING.

What's even better, yet slightly confusing, is the 50ml bottle was £18.99. £1 more for 50ml less. How strange.
Not sure if it's a glitch on the site, but if you're a fan of perfumes or Britney Spears and live in the UK then I'd go head over to the Superdrug website now and pick up this perfume before it goes back up to full price. :)

Nails: Revlon and Maybelline review.

I have been MIA again, it's far too close to Christmas and I literally haven't had the time to update
this :( bad times.

It did give me time to test these beauties out though, instead of just posting a picture and being like "Woo new nail varnishes," I can now give a proper review too.

I got these about a week and a half, 2 weeks ago, and have been wearing them ever since.
The two Revlon colours are amazing and perfect for this time of year, and with a matte finish you don't usually see for nail varnishes.

Strangely though I found the red colour (I will edit with names later), lasted much longer than the green colour, and as far as I'm aware they're pretty much the same formula, except colour.

Odd.

The Maybelline Colorama nail varnish is really pretty, but I found it to chip really quickly which is annoying, it lasted like two days before it started to chip.

The two on the end are also Maybelline, but were amazing, I find with most glitter polishes they tend to just peel off completely, where this one refused to come up even with nail varnish remover, not always a bad thing. And the darker colour (which looks black but it actually a dark purple), was the one that lasted the longest out of the whole range, minus the glitter polish.

All in all the only one I'm really disappointed in was the colorama, but the rest I would definitely recommend.

This is a bad picture of them, and doesn't really show the colours to their full potential. I have finally found my camera, so once I've charged the batteries, I can start taking proper pictures, and stop using my camera phone.

Right now I have got the two Revlon polishes on with little white dots, :)

I rather like them, it's a simple enough design but a little more interesting than flat colour :)

Personal Post: essentials

If you have been reading my blog lately, you will have known I have been ill rather a lot (way too much for my liking, weak immune system and the season where all the germies are spread around like hot potatoes, results in me being ill).

So I picked up a few essentials to help me get buy.
(the bobbles was just because I needed bobbles, but thought 'I'll add you in the picture too,' for some reason).
Anyways, the strepsils are saving my poor little throat right about now, which feels sooo sore and croaky. The beechams are also a god-send and help me survive work without wanted to curl in a ball and hide from the world.

Now the main reason I am posting this is because of the Lip Lishuss Lip Balm which is sooo soft and really moisturising, my lips feel like they're in heaven when I have it on, which as the cold hits them and they start getting all chapped and ugly looking, this product has been a life saver. (and the 2 pots were only £1 together).

Carmine Box: November

I actually received this box about a week ago, I've just been really bad at taking pictures and uploading it to here.
It did give me time to mess about with the products I received this month though, which are as followed:

The only brand I had heard of in this box was Dainty Doll, being interested in the products as I myself have very pale skin (though naturally a brunette, but fair skinned), but have always been a bit wary because it is rather expensive to buy, meaning that if I hated it, I would have wasted a lot of money. So to receive one of Nicola's lines in this box was pretty damn cool in my opinion and it being an eyeliner too made it so much better, I love eyeliners.

This colour is a dark blue, and though its not as pigmented as I'd have thought, for the price, nor as easy to apply, (I found it rather hard), I still think it's a pretty colour and with it retailing at £10.50, you cannot complain to receiving it in a box that cost you just under £13 for that and other products.

Having just looked on the Carmine website, I've only just realised that it's UK singer LuLu (most famous for her song "Shout" and singing with the band Take That. Although she did do the "Soulja Boi" dance for a charity, link can be found here.)

Moving on from her background, Lulu is in her 60's?! (I think), so minus the fact we have a massive age gap, I'd assume that the product is good.
I have been using it every night before I go to bed, in the hope that it will delay any wrinkles that may want to show up in years to come, haha. It's nice and light though, which I like, there is nothing worse than putting on face cream and it feeling like you have face cream on.
My only bad review is that it smells of Lavender, which I know is meant to help relax you and therefore help you sleep, but I'm not a fan of lavender.

Now the brow in is my favourite item in the box this month, this product is amazing.
I was messing about with it on Monday I think, and my eyebrows looked darker and fuller and better shaped for days afterwards, even though I washed my face numerous times during those days which to me shows how long that product lasts.
Why I love it though, minus the wear ability is the fact that I can draw my eyebrows to get them sort of the same shape. I barely pluck my eyebrows as they have an annoying habit of just falling out, meaning I have two different shaped and very thin eyebrows. This product made me look like I had them and wow! I love it.
Then I saw the price (RRP: over £20) and I was ready to marry the Carmine people for choosing to put this product in their box :)

New Cid Lipstick. The shade is very pretty, (again I will edit this when I remember it's name haha), and very moisturizing, which is definitely needed as the weather gets colder.
I love the fact that the packaging has a mirror and a light on it so you can apply your lipstick anywhere and not worry about making a mess or getting it on your teeth etc. Well done New Cid, I have never seen that before, and I am impressed.

Now the colour, though pretty isn't something I'd wear a lot, I love bright colours and this one is neutral, but I will find somewhere to wear it.

The only product that I haven't yet used properly is Neom's body lotion. I tried it when I got it and its very moisturizing which I like. I just have another body lotion that I'm using currently so I will use that first.
One thing that does put me off is I received the Lavender scented one which is again not my favourite smell. So hopefully next month if we get any body lotions, face creams etc they will have a different scent to them. Haha.

All in all I was impressed with this box and amazed at the price of the three full sized products would come to if you bought them individually... and yet I received them for less that £13. Crazy. (In a good way).

Excited for December's box now, wonder if they'll have a Christmas theme to it, that would be pretty cool I think. :)

Lush: Running out of it...

This is my bottle of "It's Raining Men" Lush Shower gel.
I absolutely love the smell, being a fan of the "Honey I washed the kids" soap, I absolutely jumped around when I saw they had the same scent in a shower gel.

Although this bottle has lasted rather longer than I expected, it's unfortunately coming to the end which means a trip to Lush is needed ASAP!

It's the first Lush shower gel I have used (shocking, I know), and now I'm curious to see what their other shower gels are like. I expect my bank balance will be a lot lighter by the time I walk out the shop. :)

I got bored today after spending hours more than I should have done, lying in bed feeling sorry for myself.
Believe it or not, I'm yet again ill. My immune system is awful.

So I decided to sort some of my make up out, and take all my eye shadows and put them in the same place. (One of my Carmine boxes).

It turns out that not all of my eye shadows fit into that box, and they are pretty big boxes, which just shows how many eye shadows I actually have.
Oops.
Not to mention the ones in my bag, my work bag and in the bathroom, I think I have a eye shadow problem haha.

Then I thought, even though I am ill and look haggard to mess about with some shadows... and this is what I came up with. It looked much better in person, but isn't that always the way?!

Don't suppose the fact the pictures were taken on my camera phone really helped.
I really must charge the batteries for my camera.

Graze Box week 7

I have yet again missed a week on my Graze Box reviews, such a bad memory. >.<

Today this box came and the contents are as followed:
* Billionaire's shortbread.
* Pineapple and mango daiquiri.
* Eleanor's apple crumble.
* Fiery seeds.

To be fair I wasn't as excited about this box when I saw what was coming in it, I had forgot to rate the mango and pineapple's as "bin" on the site, because even though I love the fresh fruit, them dried is a complete different case altogether. >.<
So I knew straight away I wouldn't like the Pineapple and Mango Daiquiri.
Then I realised the Fiery Seeds were CHILLY flavoured, I when voting must have just saw "Pumpkin and Sunflower seeds" which I love, and failed to connect that "fiery' tends to mean spicy hot flavours, so there was another tub that I didn't like.

The Billionaire's Shortbread was nice, though a little sickly with all them toffee pieces, that was my own fault though, I saved them until last instead of eating them in a nice mix.

And the Apple Crumble isn't bad, but a little TOO cinnamon-y for my liking, the flapjack you can taste it slightly but it's not over powering, but in this pot it definitely was. Not sure if I'd want to eat it again.

So all in all, not really a great box for me, but entirely my own fault for not re-voting after knowing I didn't like certain things.

I uploaded this video years ago onto Youtube, and am shocked that it's had many views on it.
WHAT?! For my hair?! Madness.

At the moment, as you will know if you've been reading this blog, my hair is black with the underneath a red, done so I don't bleach it for a while. (Seriously need to give my poor hair a break).
But this video is pictures of me through the years with amazing colours, how I like it.

The dyes I use religiously are DIRECTIONS! Which are much easier to get your hands on now than it was when I first started dying my hair 7 years ago.
(that makes me feel old) haha.

In fact lucky for me, the shop next to where I work has them in. Unlucky is that now I'm seeing all these people with amazing coloured hair, and I'm there like "Booo boring black!" haha.
(Black is boring on me, if you have black hair it's an amazing colour, just on me, it just doesn't suit me too well!) :)

Graze Box week 5

I didn't post last weeks box due to being ill, I liked all I got except one box, which was Cranberries (Which I like) and mulberries, which if you haven't tasted, taste like raisins, only they are such a weird texture and felt weird on my tongue. Silly excuse to not liking it, but I just couldn't bear to eat any more because of it. Oops.

I also got a Honeycomb Flapjack, Chedder gorge, and a fruit and nut case, all were nommy :)

This weeks box is the image above, the Apple and cinnamon flapjack I've had before and love it, even though I hate cinnamon, it's too over-powering with taste and scent, I'm not a fan and usually it ruins things for me, but this I actually do love.

The mango pieces in Swallows & amazons were very odd, they were like chewy jelly sweets, only not, if that makes any sense?! So not sure if I'm a fan of dried melon yet.

Copacabana was a naughty little treat with the chocolate buttons in, but half of them was dark chocolate and that's good for you soooo, yeah I'm just making excuses. It had chocolate in, it's a winner.

Now with Lost Army I'm a bit halfy half, quite literally. I tried all the pieces of it but some I liked, some I didn't. Which is rather annoying. I had it as a "try" item, because I wasn't sure if I'd like it or not, and you can't go wrong if you try it right?! But only liking half of it, unhelpful!
So I've put it in the "bin" section on the site now, because the parts I did like weren't worth getting it again, instead of something I may love. Sorry Lost Army, you will have to stay lost with me.

New hair

So for the longest time I have been sticking to red/orange hair dyes due to work's lame "no out-there-hair colours" rule, and my hatred for the wig I bought to cover the groovy colours up.

I think I went red in August, or late July, so it literally has been a long time. I tend to dye my hair at least once a month after one colour fades, I move onto the other.

But like I said, with work, I've tried to keep with the most common colours, but still something a little bit wacky.

That much so, my original boss came into the place and said that my hair (as in this picture) was the weirdest she's ever seen it, unusual as I have had rainbow hair before the rules were changed. But maybe it was just weird cos it was ginger, and that's a natural colour?! Who knows.

Anyway, my hair is in rubbish condition at the moment, it needs a bad bad trim (oooh Nigellyyyyy?! - hair dresser), and I have slacked with my lotions and potions recently which is

bad I know.
So today, well actually yesterday I made the big decision to dye it BLACK!
Yeah!
Anyone who has ever dyed their hair black will know it's the biggest pain to get rid of.
I am now stuck with this colour for at least the next two months until it starts fading, and my hair gets better.
(haha gets better, just had visions of my hair stuck in a hospital bed like "Hydration, I need hydration!" clearly my mind is on top form tonight!) :)

I wasn't brave enough to dye it ALL black though, so I have done a thin layer underneath red. (Again with the red), but it's not that noticeable to others, just I know it's there which makes me feel happy.

(I have dyed my hair a "unnatural" colour for the last 7 years now, sooo "natural" colours feel so wrong, and not to mention boring!)

But alas, I am going to be a black head for the next few months, (lovely).

It looks brown in the picture, but then I look purple too, so blame the dodgy web cam for that one.

(see you can't even see the red on the picture either).

So this is me, for the next few months, take out my piercings for work and I will look normal (for me!) Shocking.
Although I am expecting to be called "goth" from now on, I got that anyways, but black hair and eyeliner, ooooh you know the uneducated are going to automatically come up with that.
Though my love for bats just doesn't help with that image haha. Ah well, just call me Juyey Goth from now on, bring it :) haha.

Will get a decent picture when my camera is found, its grew legs and walked off somewhere which is just rude, but there's no telling it that, it's a camera, it doesn't listen. Typical. :)

Carmine Box: October

This post is majorly late, I received this at the end of October, but due to being ill I haven't been up to posting much.

But I heard about this company "Carmine," which is similar to BirchBox in America.

The box costs £10 and £2.75 for postage, it's a subscription you get sent each month with samples of high brand products. So I had a nosy and decided to sign up, I loved the idea of BirchBox and was absolutely gutted when I realised it didn't ship all over, so when I found out about Carmine, I was practically jumping at my laptop to sign me up quickly. Haha.

The company has only just started, and I believe this is the first box so far, which is cool I think, starting from the beginning.
I think everyone got the same products this month, but will be cool to get more "individual" products that match your "beauty profile," which you fill in when you sign up to the site.
I did get a email the other day asking me about my eyebrow colour so I think November's box will be a bit different for everyone.

So this is what I got in the box:

* Daniel Sandler eye delight - Peach
* The Balm - Frat boy blush
* Trind - Nail Repair Natural
* Caudalie - Quenching Sorbet Créme (sample)
* Balance Me - Super moisturising hand cream (sample)

The Eye delight, blush and nail repair were all full sizes which is amazing. I honestly expected to have just samples to start with, small sizes. But full? Amaaaaaazing.

I have only used the moisturising cream and Caudalie so can't comment on the other three just yet, but they all retail for over £10 each, which if you think for bargains, you are paying £10 for the box, and getting at least £30 worth of products; can't really complain.

Balance Me has made my hands so soft, especially after bleaching my hair (I tend to forget to wear gloves when bleaching / dying my hair which is foolish, so my hands go all dry), and after a day you can already see the difference, which I love.
The smell unfortunately is lavender which is not my favourite smell ever, but I can get past that for the sake of how good it is. :)

Caudalie is a face cream, and ooooh my bats, since I've been ill, my skin has just gone horrible. This cream has just woke it up and even though I'm still under the weather I at least feel slightly better now my skin isn't all dry and gross looking.

I now cannot wait for my November box to arrive, hopefully it will be soon.

Rimmel 60 Seconds: Purple Reign

This is the latest Nail Varnish to make its way out of the shops and into my collection.

Rimmel's Purple Reign.

I have been wearing this for 3 days now and it's just starting to chip, which is a great nail varnish in my opinion, usually nail varnish chips straight away for me, which is highly annoying.

The only bad thing I have to say about this is, I had to put THREE coats on for it to become opaque which is unusual for Rimmel, it also took longer than 60 seconds to dry too. Hmm.

Moving on, this only cost me £1 which I thought was awesome as it retails at £3.69.
I would highly recommend going around discount stores for some good make up bargains, or to find products you love that have been discontinued.
I'm aware most people are quite "snobbish" when it comes to discount stores, but honestly, you can find some great brands in there for such a good price. Why pay more right?!

With the weather getting colder and more germs spreading about the place, lil old me caught a bug :( Very bad times.

Graze box week 3

So today I got my third Graze box, which included Veggie Sushi Plate, New England, Hickory Smoked Nuts and Seeds and Jaffa Cake.

This is the second time I've received the Jaffa Cake tub (containing orange sultanas, dark chocolate pieces and almond nuts), though it's only in a like not love, never the less it's yummy just the same.

The New England one was cranberries and apple pieces, I'm undecided if I like the apples or not, they're a rather strange texture. I think I prefer them with the toffee dip they came with last week, that dip was a-maz-ing!

My favourite this week was the Hickory Smokey Nuts and Seeds. YUM! It was just a mix of different nuts and seeds (in case you didn't guess that from the name), but loved it. I hope to get it again soon.

Unfortunately I didn't like the Veggie Sushi Plate, at all!
It was one of my "try" items, containing seaweed rice crackers, peanuts and peas. Sounds nice right?
Wrong!
Unless you like spicy! I ate a pea and had to go running for a drink because it was that hot on my tongue, not exactly what I was expecting.
It would have been nice without the spicy flavouring, wherever that came from. But as a non-spicy food person, this just was a no-no for me.
:(

A little disappointing, but at least I tried something new, and that's part of the reason I'm getting these boxes, barr the main reason of eating these instead of turning to Wotsits. Hmm wotsits, om nom nom!

I got this book about a month ago, but due to having a pile of books taller than me to read through, it took me a while to actually pick it up, and due to a busy work schedule it took me longer to read, which is a little annoying because once you pick this book, it's hard to put it down.

It's by Hope Donahue.
No I'd never heard of her before that either, and I tried to google after reading the book, and that basically gave me no information barr this book.

The book is written as a "Memoir of an obsession with perfection," about the writers struggles to accept her appearance, going to the lengths of plastic surgery to change the parts about herself she doesn't like. Her personal life, her family life, and how far one person would go to be "perfect".

What is written on the back of the book:
Hope Donahue seemed to have it all: beauty, wealth, social status. She was an only child who grew up with the best private schools, debutante balls, and a home in Hancock Park, Los Angeles’s old-money enclave. This book was fascinating to me, I have never been one to stand in front of a mirror thinking of what I would change if I could, magically or surgery wise, so to read someone who thinks the complete opposite to me, it was interesting. It completely opened my eyes to the fact that some people have a problem (and I use that word loosely) when it comes to their appearance to go to such lengths. To let your surgeon pick out your boob size, when you weren't sure you wanted that surgery in the first place. Yeah, that's a completely different world to mine, but like I said it opened my eyes, made me less judgemental to people who do get plastic surgery.

Simple Review:

I have been using Simple's Cleanser, Toner and Moisturisr for the past year now.
I originally got these three in a box set from Superdrug, it was part of their 3 for 2 range, I was buying some girly gifts for the sisters, and needed another item to make the deal.
(No complaints from me, all of that FREE! Amazing!)

It I think the gift set was about £4.99 (if you were to buy on its own) for the set, which is a pretty good price for 3 bottles of Simple but in all honesty I didn't expect the bottles to be too big, so you can imagine my surprise when they showed up and the Cleanser and Toner were both 200ml bottles and the moisturiser was 125ml.

Since then I have kept repurchasing them, as they make my face feel amazing, and due to working in a dusty place I often feel really grimy after my shift, and I just feel that these products help clean my face amazingly as well as being gentle to my skin. Not to mention they don't make my face greasy or oily which is a bonus, anyone with oily skin will understand how hard it is to find a product that hydrates your skin, but doesn't make you look like you've just dipped your face into a chip pan. Ew.

Individually they are about £2/3 each to buy separately, depending on where you buy them from.
BUT, and this is a good but, if you go to the superdrug website (here), they actually have something very similar, only with the wipes too. The site doesn't state how big the bottles are, but still for £4.99 it's a pretty good deal you'll be getting.

Halloween cupcakes:

So Halloween is my favourite time of the year, ever!
I love it so much. For most it's Christmas, which is okay, but it doesn't compare to Halloween.
(In my eyes)

So I thought I would go extra halloween'ish this year and try my hand at decorating cakes.
I can make cakes easily, especially now with my mini muffin maker :D but the decorating? No patience what-so-ever!

I made four different types of cakes today, the white ones were supposed to be mummies, the cake was just ordinary sponge cake, topped with white icing, smarties for eyes and black icing for the mouth.

The blue cakes were supposed to be ghosts, but after failing badly with my first try, I just made the whole cake blue. (introducing corpse cakes, lovely). Including the actual cake. Food colouring, you have to love it.
The black cakes were supposed to be bats, until I realised I had nothing for the wings, and they looked more like frogs faces to me anyway, so hellooo frog cakes.

I did also do orange cakes (flavour and colour), with a reddy orange topping (Bloody Pumpkins)

Their eyes went a bit dodgy though :(

I realise this post kind of contradicts my last post "healthy noms," but it's Halloween, and we are all allowed a little treat (or trick) at this time of year.

Ingredients:
(cake mixture)
6oz Sugar (white)
6oz Self-raising flour.
6oz Margarine / Butter.
3 Medium eggs.
Few drops of Vanilla Essence.

Split the mixture into three bowls (once mixed together), and add food colouring to them.
(I had black for the frogs, and orange for the pumpkins! Corpse and mummy cakes were just normal!)
I also added orange flavouring to the pumpkin cakes to give it a different flavour.
Just have a play with dyes and flavours, mix them up, go crazy. :)

Free Healthy Noms?

Well who could say no to that?!

I saw someone's free code on Tumblr, and was a bit skeptical I have to be honest.
Who would give away free stuff, just like that?!
And food, through the post? Hmm.

So I clicked on the website www.graze.com to investigate this, and it's legitimate.

I got my first box for free, and my bats it was amazing, raisins, nuts, apple flapjack, dark chocolate, I could go on... but I think you should nose at the site yourself, it's definitely worth it.

Before I signed up I looked at what they had to offer, and was surprised just how many of the foods sounded amazing, and they are all natural foods!? WOW!
You get the option between the Healthy box and the Nibble box, both natural foods with essential nutrients (I may have stole that from the little booklet haha), but the healthy box, is well, healthier.

Okay, I'm rambling now.
The good thing with this is that you are not bind to a contract. You do have to put your details in before claiming your free box, but if you're not impressed, or don't wish to carry on with them (ie, pay!) you can log back in and cancel! It's that simple.

I honestly think it's worth the money you pay (a couple of pounds), it's much better than grabbing a chocolate finger or jammy dodger.

This little dude is called George. He is one of my four frogs. (Pond people)

I originally had a George and a Fred, but unfortunately Fred died :'(
-Now Harry Potter fans, think about it!
So many gasps when it clicked.
(it did take a while, I was devastated over my frog passing away!)

It left poor George on his own, and as a African Dwarf Frog, they like the company of other African Dwarf Frogs. Enter Ginny, Ron and Harry-Frogger.
I have now had these little babies for 17 months, and they can live up to 5+ years. (Yay!)
I love them, they keep me company at 2am when I have nothing better to do, and sleep is so far off, plus they're so cute ^_^

I want them to give me frog babies though, at least three!
Amy, Rory and Melody Pond anyone?!

Bargain of the day

So today whilst in work I noticed these beauties.
Well, how could I not, just look at them colours. Amazing!

What grabbed my attention more than the eye-catching colours, was the fact that they came like that, in a packet, all three.

Doubly amazing! But it gets better!

All three cost a grand total of £1. (Just over a dollar or euro). In other words, BARGAIN!

I originally bought the pink a few months ago on it's own for the same price I got all three. No complaints here. £1 for a Rimmel eye shadow is a pretty good deal, £1 for three Rimmel eye shadows?! Heaaaven! :D

I will swatch later and update this post. :)
